A very rare Cisalpine heavy drachm

CISALPINE GAUL. Uncertain. late 3rd to early 2nd century BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.64 g, 6 h), heavy standard, imitating Massalia. Laureate head of Artemis to right, wearing triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. MAΣΣA Lion walking to right. CCCBM II S1-S4. Pautasso 221-222. Very rare. Beautifully toned and exceptionally well preserved for this difficult issue. Light traces of overstriking and with very minor die wear on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
